About the Foundation
The USS Harry S Truman Foundation was established following the commissioning of the USS Truman on July 25, 1998. The purpose and mission of the Foundation is to provide financial assistance to the Truman Family Readiness Group (FRG).
Each time the USS Truman (CVN-75) returns from a major deployment, the FRG supports a welcome home pier-side celebration for its 15,000 plus dependents and family members. The Truman Foundation, which is a 501c-3 organization, provides financial assistance to the FRG to help offset costs of the welcome home celebration where public funds are not available. In addition to financial assistance, the Foundation also helps foster, encourage and participate in activities of a patriotic nature by hosting the officers and crew members of the USS Truman during their social visits to the local communities of Missouri and Kansas.
